materially support trans women instead



FiveforFive is a collective-giving fund for trans women and transfems. With the ruinous EHRC code coming into effect on the 5th of August, we have to retain laser focus on our core mission: keeping trans women alive, surviving and thriving by giving them money. People know best where they need money to be spent: keeping them alive, keeping them housed, keeping them fed, any other number of needs or wants that makes life any less difficult in the present moment.

We’re asking people to join us in imagining better and brighter futures for trans women in the UK. We’re asking you to show solidarity with us now, when it matters most. Put your money where your mouth is: put your money directly into the pockets of trans women and transfems by donating to FiveforFive.

For us, everything else that isn’t giving money to the dolls must be secondary. So that we do not drift into vague projects we can’t see the immediate impact of, we have to always bring ourselves back to our mission. To that end, we’re switching the way we give out donations so that 100% of donations will be going directly to individuals, not our previous 80:20 mix (where we gave 80% to individuals and 20% to organisations and groups working with and for trans women).

Organisational funding has always been an extra bulk-on for us, a ‘good to have’ for when donations are coming in thick and fast and we’re in a position to think longer-term about supporting other orgs and funds to increase the capacity of others. We’ve found that successful organisational donation recipients have often never been asked to ringfence funds specifically for trans women (one of our prerequisites), and it gets them thinking about what they can or should do. But getting others thinking about how to better serve trans women is not our sole purpose as a fund, nor do we think it should be.

In the meantime, and as far as things remain bad and confusing, we’ve launched a page and an app that will direct people to community-certified unisex toilets where we can piss in peace. We refuse to give up on the idea that trans women deserve dignity. Finding a toilet that you can use without worrying should be one of the most basic and easy things. For many trans and/or non-binary people, particularly trans women and transfem people, this simply isn't the case. In 2026, with all the disgusting policing of bodies and expressions, and the worsening of trans people's safety whilst in public, something like Open Lavs seems, sadly, more essential than ever. Use the app, add to the map, and know where you’re going to be welcome.
