Hi, I’m Cara. I’m a Glaswegian Irish trans woman who wants to do better for my trans family, my trans sisters and transfem people in particular. I have worked at anti-poverty campaigns, trans charities and LGBT orgs, and have had all kinds of other incongruous jobs to get by over the years (chef, librarian, editor of a wine magazine, teacher, dole lover etc). I write all sorts of nonsense, and am in the middle of writing my first novel. 

After crowdfunding myself, I realised we could try to make this a bit less complicated for people. I want there to be ease in giving to transfem causes without having to seek them out yourself, or of giving only whenever you see something particular. Ultimately, I want a world where we don't have to crowdfund, where services for us aren't underfunded or nonexistent, but in the meantime I’m happy creating a hub for onward giving with your support!

I also started and run Open Lavs, a site to map out every unisex loo in the UK.

I’m currently working on a PhD about differential liveability across trans communities in the UK. Next only to my passion for and belief in the possibility of transfeminine futures is my passion for organisation, which is how I’ve found myself offering administrative support to the fund.
